Event Description: Whether you're a walker or a runner, join us at the Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails (GHRT) on Sat., October 18th for a 5k/10k. The 5k will be an out-and-back run/walk on the trail, while the 10k will be an out-and-back run around Downtown Hazleton! This inaugural event, sponsored by the Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership, the Greater Hazleton YMCA / YWCA, Hazleton POWER! and Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress, aims to raise money to reinforce our vision of a healthier Hazleton community by bringing visitors and residents onto the GHRT, and to encourage them to get out and about Downtown. Directions:
At the Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails. To get there, drive south on Broad St through Hazleton, passing by the KFC and Hospital on the way, then continue on down the hill. You will see Degenhart's Chiropractic on your left-hand side. Almost immediately after this, there will be a large brownish welcome sign on the left, just before you reach the intersection with PA 424. This is the trailhead parking lot. All of the races will start/end from here, as well as registration and the awards. Parking accommodations will be made available at Degenhart's, Geisinger or Dr. Puhak's Dentistry.
