Event Description: EVENT DETAILS Arena Lacrosse League spokesman Lance Winn announced that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area will host the second leg of a six week, ten city Showcase Tour to officially launch the league as it prepares for its inaugural 2016 summer season. “We are proud to add Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as part of the Tour, the area is growing lacrosse wise and its local fanbase has shown great support of it sports teams especially the Penguins of the American Hockey League. With the cross over between hockey and lacrosse we can offer these fans a summer fix for an indoor contact sport that is highly skilled and very fast.” The Showcase Tour will be a week long event that finds it way to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza July 27 through August 1 as a group of Elite lacrosse players will commence on the city to participate in an Elite Combine “living a week of life as an Arena Lacrosse League player” participating in everything from a skills combine/scrimmage and draft to participation in the Showcase game Saturday night, a game that will give many local fans their first glimpse of a live indoor lacrosse game. Also part of the Tour is a youth camp and tournament over the course of a 5 day period starting Tuesday and ending Saturday. Young players will have a chance to participate in a camp and then play in a 4 game tournament where safety, skills and fun the priority and winning is for everyone. “This youth camp and tournament is a great lead in to our Junior ALL program that will operate in each city that hosts an Arena Lacrosse League team. These young players wear replica jersey’s of the elite team and practice and play at the same state of the art venue, its exciting for these players and for us its all about growing the game, developing players and putting a smile on their faces” Winn added. About the Arena Lacrosse League: The Arena Lacrosse League is an Elite summer indoor league that will start in late May and conclude in early September, with the inaugural season slated for 2016. The majority of the team rosters will consist of American born collegiate players; graduates and non-collegiate players will fill out the remainder of the roster. Each ALL organization will also operate a Junior ALL program where young players of various ages and gender can sign up and play at the same state of the art venues as the Elite teams. The Showcase game is set for Saturday August 1 at 7pm, door open to the public at 6pm. Tickets for the Showcase game featuring the Wilkes-Barre All-Stars against the Arena Lacrosse League are $15 and $20 and are on sale now.
